Tim Rees seconded from Airservices Australia as CANSO's new Environment Manager Wed 3 Feb 2010 - Tim Rees has become the new Environment Manager with the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO), which represents the interests of Air Navigation Services Providers (ANSPs) worldwide. Rees, a professional air traffic controller, is on secondment from Airservices Australia, where he has served for over 18 years. Algal Biomass Organization names Mary Rosenthal as its first Executive Director Mon 13 July 2009 - The Algal Biomass Organization (ABO) has appointed Mary Rosenthal as its first Executive Director. Founded one year ago, the ABO is a non-profit association that promotes the development of commercially viable transportation and power generation fuels as well as other non-energy applications for algal biomass. Much of the early impetus for the ABO came from Boeing Commercial Airplanes and counts a number of aviation-related companies among its members including Air New Zealand, Virgin Atlantic, Continental Airlines, FedEx Express, Honeywell UOP and Raytheon, as well as airline associations IATA and the ATA. Linden Coppell takes up role as Etihad Airways' first Manager for Environmental Affairs Fri 30 Jan 2009 - Etihad Airways has appointed Linden Coppell, an environmental and corporate social responsibility specialist, as its first Manager for Environmental Affairs. Coppell has more than 18 years' experience in environmental affairs and joins Etihad from Cathay Pacific Airways where she held the position of Environmental Manager for the past five years. His new post involves working on a range of strategy and policy-related initiatives aimed at reducing emissions, both on the ground and in the air, including long term technology acquisition and deployment, as well as supporting the company's overall sustainability and CSR agenda.
